Good service, great haircut for my dog. He got fully groomed, and came out happy and looking fresh. Time of service was relatively fast. I’ll go again. Good job!

Washed 2 dogs this time and it went great! Love the self serve rooms. My dog came out looking all clean and fluffy! I used the happy hood and shampoo they provided and it all worked wonderful.

I'm new to the area, and I took my dog to wash dog a couple months ago to get her nails done. She's kind of phobic about it so I wanted to go somewhere professional. When we got there, there were two women who helped me with her. They put her in a harness that was able to lift her up off the table so she couldn't jump around. I fed her treats while they worked on her nails. It was quick and non-traumatic for her. I took her back there today expecting the same sort of service. In spite of having a lot more employees present, they only had one woman work on her. They no longer had the harness to lift her up off the table, which was a huge help last time. When I brought it up, the girl seemed to think they never had anything like that. I had to wrestle my dog the whole time while she tried to grind her nails. She was kind and patient, but it was very difficult for me with a bad back, and a lot more traumatic for my dog than it should have been. Other employees who didn't have dogs to work on were standing around, and I was shocked that no one came to help. The price was the same. $30 for a nail trim. If I have to wrestle her myself anyway, and stress her out with the length of time it takes and the wrestling match, there's no point spending that much money. I'm so very disappointed.

This place was amazing. The ladies who worked here are so kind and charismatic. I got off the plane from Virginia (enroute to Hawaii for our final destination, Seattle just a layover) and had to rush my dog here because she was very sick and her crate was disgusting from her stomach being upset. I called ahead of time and they quickly helped me get Mya into a room and they told me they would wash her crate out for me for free. I had to rush her to the ER and they told me I could pick her crate up the following day. I came in today and they told me they did not want to charge me at all and they just hope my pup gets better. Beyond thankful and appreciative there’s still good people in the world like this.

We got our Shih Tzu/Bichon mix and our corgi groomed and bathed by Kate! She was so nice when we dropped them off and she met the dogs for the first time. One of my dogs had an accident during drop off and the team here made it no big deal and helped me clean it up. But more importantly they were fast and I love the quality of the groom - especially for how swiftly it was done! Thank you so much! We will be coming back!!

My best friend and I bathed both our dogs and The Wash Dog was very accommodating. They gave us the largest room and we were able to get both dogs clean for a great price! Thank you The Wash Dog!!

I have a large (85 lb) Malamute GSD mix. She hates baths and hates the blow dryer even more. They gave her the best groom for the most reasonable price she’s had. Ever! They took great care of her and she looked like she lost weight when she got home

We had a wonderful experience for our first time at the Wash Dog. We recently moved to the area and heard great things about the grooming here. We have two, small, older dogs that were in dire need of haircuts. The staff were kind and professional. They took the time to understand what we were hoping for and our dogs' individual needs. The facility was clean and quiet. Most importantly though, our anxious little guys came out with their tails wagging and the best haircuts they have ever had. We absolutely will be using them as our regular groomer from here on out!

Never been to a self serve (they also have a grooming service) dog wash place before, so don't have much to compare to but felt like it was a great deal for my two dogs. Lots of space to move around for bigger dogs, and the room was large enough for my other dog to wait their turn. Look forward to coming back.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming

What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?

A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.

How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?

To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.

Why is professional cat grooming important?

Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.

How often should my cat be professionally groomed?

The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.

What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?

Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
