Reviews
Overall, customers express high satisfaction with the grooming services at City Dog, often praising the quality of care, particularly highlighting groomer Christa as exceptional and loving towards pets. Many reviews emphasize positive experiences with booking, communication, and the attentive nature of the staff, including follow-up after services. However, several customers have raised concerns about the scheduling system, citing issues with appointments being canceled or miscommunicated, which has led some to reconsider their loyalty. While the facility is generally perceived as clean and welcoming, there are notable frustrations regarding management and specific incidents that detract from the overall experience.
My baby girl was in such good hands for her grooming at City Dog! They were very easy to book and provide great service and communication. Loved the photos they sent during her bath and even followed up after to make sure we were happy. Would totally recommend!
Groomer Christa is absolutely the best. She is patient, consistent and really loves your animal. She groomed our Annabelle until she passed last month. We are so grateful to have had Christa take care of her for many years. We will miss seeing Christa!
My dog really liked it here. I liked that they had cameras you can tune into to see your dog. I liked they had grooming on the spot as well. My only drawback is it’s all indoors, I know it’s Seattle but maybe more turf would be nice, softer on the dog paws. I also think it’s kind of pricey but they have deals and discounts now and then you can take advantage of.
My palmchi, Waldo Emerson gets groomed by City Dog every 2 months. Essentially a Chia Pet! The love, care and maintenance are unmatched. Christa, the groomer is the best, and all the best people know it. She's a dog whisperer. The care and service from the front of house is wonderful and greatly appreciated. I count on City Dog to help me maintain Waldo's health and happiness. They always underpromise and overdeliver. We love our City Dog!
One of those places that has unfortunately gone to the gutters. Receptionist and other staff is still cool but management is terrible. Do not communicate when our appointment is canceled adhoc, given to another person or staff didnt show up. Has happened twice to us now.
I haven't used their boarding or daycare services, but they did an excellent job with my finicky toy breed's nail trim. Cheaper, better quality and a higher level of service than PetSmart.
I’ve been bringing my dog, Luna, here for grooming for the past two years, and while the quality of the grooming itself is great, I’ve had frustrating experiences with their scheduling system. On multiple occasions, I’ve had issues where appointments were either rescheduled last-minute or canceled altogether. The most recent incident is what pushed me to write this review. I made an appointment online for a Trim and Style (1.5 hours), and all confirmations matched that booking. Even when I walked in, the receptionist said “Trim and Style for Luna?” However, when they went to call over the groomer to discuss Luna’s haircut, I was told the appointment was actually booked as an A La Carte service (15 minutes) and because of this, they couldn’t take Luna in today. They could not create another appointment for her until five days later which was incredibly inconvenient. I ended up having to change my plans today and wash her myself because it was time for a wash but a haircut could wait another month or so. There was also an incident months ago where I called ahead to say I’d be 15-30 minutes late. The person on the phone said that was completely fine, but when I arrived 20 minutes late, I was told I had passed their "grace period" and had to reschedule. This meant I had to cancel my plans that morning because the place I was heading to does not allow dogs. While I acknowledge that being late is on me, the lack of consistent communication and flexibility has been frustrating. Overall, while I do appreciate the quality of the grooming services, I’m considering searching for another groomer because of their scheduling process and inability to accommodate when issues arise. I hope they make improvements to their communication and appointment system (by building in more buffer for grooming appointments) in the future so they can be more accommodating and other customers don’t face similar issues.
I walk by this place every day. Always there is a dog or two viciously try to attack through the window, which starts the other dogs barking and causing a commotion. This place needs to frost the windows or have a human there so the dogs don't feel threatened.
When we moved to Seattle 8 years ago, we were used to our groomer boarding our dogs and sleeping with them in her bed. Our next groomer had some big shoes to fill. City dog club is vastly different. We were not disappointed, however! We have tried groomers that are closer to us here in Renton. One gave our dogs demodex MANGE from not checking health of clients and poor work area hygiene, which was horrific! The other had our dogs come home smelling like feces because her shop was so filthy! Those are low standards to be compared with, and we learned our lesson! But even when we compare our the actual grooming service from where we used to live, City Dog club has consistently provided better, excellent grooming services for our Bichons and Poodles 🐩 who have hair that continuously grows and must be clipped every few months. We highly recommend the groomers at City Dog Club and happily drive from Renton to City Dog Club in midtown Seattle now!
I am at a convention in Seattle. Last night our group was walking by your facility, admiring all the animals. The business looked very welcoming and clean. Just the type of place an animal would love. There were dogs who looked very nervous in a corner.. All of the sudden a man storms in hollering at the dogs with the most hateful tone. He then snatches/drags a doodle by the collar and isolates him. It was awful to see animals being treated this way. No matter how appealing the facility may look I would NEVER leave my dogs where they are being talked too in this manner. 🚩🚩🚩

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
