We had a wonderful experience with Compassionate Dog! My Senior poodle had a recent stroke and due to giving her time to recuperate before putting her thru grooming-and the fact it took awhile to get an Appt here- she was very scruffy!! Evie really took her time and was so kind, patient & gentle; Rosie immediately took to her and her usual anxiety over being groomed diminished greatly; I highly recommend their Service!

Tried Compassionate Dog for the first time today because one of my dogs gets motion sickness in the car. I am so pleased with the results. Both dogs look great and smell even better. Our groomer, Jacqueline, was wonderful to my puppers and they seemed to have a great time with her. Definitely will be using them again.

I am soooo very happy with the grooming service for my dog Blu. The level of care and kindness shown to him is beyond words. I have had some issues with prior groomers but @compassionatedog grooming is the BEST. I wish I had found them months ago. Thanks Jed..

Is there a way I can give more than 5 stars? I have an extraordinarily challenging large rescue dog whose nails were neglected for a long time. Our groomer, Jorge, was so very patient and accommodating. We had to try some very creative ways to get the dog into the van without force and this took some time, but the patience he had really helped the dog to relax. Jorge really understands what the dog is thinking and feeling and that helped so much. The flexibility and skill that he had was a very big part of getting the dog to voluntarily participate. Andrew, the owner, is absolutely wonderful in understanding how important dogs are to our lives. I'm so grateful to them, and we look forward to future visits.

I used Compassionate Dog to groom my 3 yr old doodle and they did a fantastic job. I was nervous because my doodle was fired from a previous groomer and Compassionate Dog didn’t even hesitate. They assured me that he would get the best care and he did. This was the first time that he didn’t come back stressed, which matters the most to me. I would definitely use them again and will tell everyone I know about how great the service was. Thank you Compassionate Dog.

Compassionate Dog is one of those very special businesses that offers customer centric service and compassion for your pup. They take special care based on age, personality and condition. The groomer was informative regarding a full groom. I was nervous to leave my pup, as this was his first groom by a professional, but I was reassured by the knowledge and confidence of the groomer. The staff at Compassionate Dog were amazing with him. They took such great care in ensuring he felt safe and secure during his entire session. He was afraid to cross over from the tub to the grooming table, so he was lovingly hand carried over. Additionally, our pup had some matting, our groomer was extremely careful to ensure the process wasn’t painful for our pup and he didn’t make us feel bad because he had mats. Our pup felt so relaxed, at one point he started to dose off! His first full groom was perfect! Our pup was very happy after his grooming experience.

I rebathed my dog right after he was groomed. because he had this white dandruff all over his back that he did not have before... After I bathed him an hour after his grooming all the white dandruff was gone on of his back and his hair is now silky smooth after I bathed him....makes me wonder if the groomer is using clean things when she grooms dogs...for sure she did not bathe him well because after I bathed him right after she groomed him...all the water was dirty!....so I hate to complain but just being honest...

What can i say about compassionate dog? I am very skeptical and untrusting of dog grooming places. There is no one who can be as kind and as careful as i am with my own baby.. Compassionate dog has turned my worries into past dreams. They are so understanding of my baby’s needs and I am completely satisfied with what Compassionate dog has done with my baby. I have a very hyper 1.6 year old standard Poodle. Usually groomers just cringe at the word “ poodle or doodle” because they are so hard to groom in the first place. Owners have a big responsibility to keep them brushed or it turns into a matting nightmare. They did Everything, ears, nails, teeth. And he was sooo happy when I picked him up. He couldn’t stop smiling! He smelled so good. I couldn’t get enough sniffs. I will never go anywhere else. Thank you , Compassionate dog. From your biggest fan and loyal customer.

My dog is somewhat difficult and the level of detail and care Compassionate Dog provided to make my baby Scipio look his best is appreciated. I no longer have a dog that looks like a mutt, but a fullbred cockapoo that struts his looks on and off the agility field. My new favorite business!

Frequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming

What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?

A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.

How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?

To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.

Why is professional cat grooming important?

Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.

How often should my cat be professionally groomed?

The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.

What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?

Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
