Justine was very good with my unruly Himalayan. His lion cut turned out purrrfect, and he smelled so nice after the bath that she gave him! His ears were nice and clean and his nails were trimmed as well. Definitely recommend this place for your cat grooming needs! Cat Around Town does great work!

Justine is a Saint! I have been taking my cats to her for 10 years. Nigel loves her. Justine and Amanda are so patient, kind and caring. I love that they only one cat at a time.

They are so gentle and it's a 1 on 1 experience. Your cat has the undivided attention of the groomer. They only do cats...and they're very in tune with cat behavior and how to a avoid stressful experience. I highly recommend them. They have an open enrollment period (to keep a positive experience) but to see my cat happy and sparkly after being subjected to something potentially stressful is worth the wait. ❤❤❤❤❤this place

My partner and I have been taking our kids (cats) to get groomed at Cat Around Town for many years. Justine and Amanda are professional, knowledgable, kind, and give our cats the utmost loving care and attention at each visit. Afterwards, our cats feel so much better (and more confident!) with their new hairdos. When we come to the salon the calming and friendly atmosphere feels just like being at home. <3 Thank you so much!

They work with your little kitty. They are very friendly and personable. It is very easy to make online appointments. They allow owners to stay while they groom your cat. Little Penny's lion cut looks fabulous.

Fantastic VIP attention, calm, relaxing atmosphere- best cat groomer ever! Justine is great with the cats. My kitty was so calm. She cradled kitty when she groomed her so she felt safe. She's also expertly trained qualified with a background in vet care so I felt doubly good about taking Pinchy there. It's also the best haircut my cat has ever had. Would recommend and return. Also, my cat smelled like strawberries!

Last night was my first time at Cat Around Town and Justine was absolutely amazing with my little girl Elmo. She is a feisty little 6 lbs at 15 years old and has been banned from PetSmart grooming because of aggressive behavior! : / Justine was completely understanding and took her time with Elmo. The evening was incident free and Elmo came home with a nice soft coat and all of her knots were brushed out. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a patient, competent cat groomer!

Absolutely amazing! I have been going to Justine for 7 years and would never let another groom my babies. Very calm atmosphere, and individual attention for each kitty. No stress of dogs because it is a cat only salon. I can't say enough good about Cat Around Town and the staff there.

Cat Around Town is hands down the best place to take your cat, any temperament, to get groomed. My cat has been a customer for I think 4 years now. Justine is awesome and knows acats!!! They groom one cat at a time I'm more at ease taking my cat there for her grooming because of the way she runs her business. I can't even get my cat to allow me to clip her nails let alone near water so it amazes me that she can get my cat to be okay with getting a bath, shave, and a blow dry all without any hissy fit. I recommend this place if you're looking for one on one grooming that focuses on making your cats comfortability their #1 priority!

Frequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming

What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?

A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.

How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?

To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.

Why is professional cat grooming important?

Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.

How often should my cat be professionally groomed?

The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.

What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?

Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
