My husband and I own a small Yorkie. We recently switched to this groomer after seeing really positive reviews online. Our former groomer charged double what this groomer does, and A Diamond in the Ruff’s quality ended up being far superior. They are so kind and listened to every request we had! I’m not proud of how much I care about my dogs haircut, I know it’s dramatic. However, they didn’t make me feel silly at all when I was sending my husband pictures of what we wanted 😅 They are truly amazing and talented. I highly recommend!
they did a great nail & paw trim on our fluffy little cat who hates being picked up! very quick, efficient, and affordable, and her paws have never looked cuter. here’s a before & after! the owner is also very nice and helpful. great no-nonsense appointment.
Niko my 11 year old Yorkshire terrier has been getting groom here since he was a puppy! The staff is amazing. They treat Nico like a king and he always is happy when he comes home and looks great that Groomer in the city and the state.
My dog loves getting groomed at Diamond in the Ruff. She always looks great when I pick her up!
I just have to say a huge THANK YOU to the whole crew at A Diamond In The Ruff for getting my pup in so quickly for her first groom! They always do such a great job with our other dogs, so I knew Bella would be in great hands - and they did not disappoint! The fact that she came home so happy and relaxed just shows how much care and attention they really do put into each animal they see. Could not be happier to have such a great groomer in the South Side!
Pam has groomed four dogs for me, and I've never been disappointed! This is a gem of an establishment.
I'm here in Pittsburgh getting my daughter settled in to her new place before grad school starts in a few weeks and my cocker spaniel is in DESPERATE need of a bath. I stopped in and spoke with Kristie (sorry if the spelling is wrong! ), and she was kind enough to make time to take Savannah in last minute while we ran errands all afternoon. When we got back we were rewarded with a super clean, happy, stress-free dog. All of the other dogs I saw in there looked just as chill. They've also got lots of accessories for sale, which is a nice touch. I wish I lived here instead of across the country so that she could continue to be groomed by these wonderful people! Definitely a great groomer if you're in need. Thanks, ladies for a very positive experience!
Fettuccine is loving his new summer cut! The ladies at Diamond in the Ruff were wonderful and kind, and Fettuccine had nothing but good things to say 💕 Highly recommend for your kitty cut needs!
They did a great job on my two babies. Our newest addition is a puppy mill rescue who is still cautious of humans but she was just fine with these guys. We couldn’t be happier and the puppies look fabulous! Thanks for taking such good care of them ❤️
I couldn't recommend A Diamond in the Ruff any more highly. I spoke with Kathryn on the phone and in the salon and she was extremely friendly and helpful. They got my puppy in for his first grooming appointment really quickly and he had a great time making new friends while getting a great haircut. I'm so happy I found them and Charlie is too!

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
