Reviews
Overall, the reviews for Philthy Paws reflect a strong sense of customer satisfaction among many pet owners who praise the friendly staff, quality of care, and effectiveness of grooming services. Customers frequently mention a positive atmosphere, with staff going above and beyond to ensure their pets feel comfortable and look great, often leaving with treats and adorable accessories. However, there are notable complaints regarding the quality of grooming for some pets, including injuries or unsatisfactory results, leading to frustration and disappointment. This divide indicates that while many customers have had excellent experiences, there are serious concerns that need to be addressed regarding service consistency and safety.
Took my senior long-haired cat here and he was treated so kindly. He also looks and smells the best he maybe ever has in his entire life. The staff is super friendly, and the vibes overall are great. We’ll definitely be back :)
The staff here take such good care of my elderly pup. Every time I bring her, she gets so excited to be there and never wants to leave. The staff make her smell and look amazing and are able to file her nails even though she doesn’t let me do it. They always give her a treat and send her home in a bandana or bow tie. Excellent job!
This was my very first time doing a self groom for my golden doodle. The staff at philthy paws was excellent! They offered help, gave clear instructions for the equipment & were very welcoming, they also cleaned my dogs ears & clipped his nails. I will definitely be back!
lovely shop. always in and out so fast, we go here to get my cats claws trimmed once a month because she won’t let us do it at home. staff is so sweet and always gives her treats afterward.
Stay as far away from this place as possible! I brought in my King Charles Cavalier Spaniel for a grooming. She had beautiful feathery fur that was getting a little long. She needed a trim. I asked them to remove some of the knots in her undercarriage and trim the feathering. When I got my dog back she was covered in nicking and missing patches of her fur. They used a razor buzzer to basically shave her down her very undercoat. Her body is covered in razor burns. The knots on her chest belly are still there. They shaved her neck and her ears. If you care about your dog's safety do not take them here. The people clearly do not know what they are doing. They buzz shaved my dog and did a terrible job of it, leaving her with razor cuts and injuries. I will post the photos so people can see what this place will do to your pet if you mistakenly take them there.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would!!!!!! My mother was doing me a favor by getting my cat groomed while I went out of state. I told her to go to Pet Smart but she just insisted on going to “Philthy Paws” because it “looked nice”🙄. The contract that they had my mother sign was ridiculous! The contract stated that if they accidentally hurt your pet while grooming them, then it’s not their fault and any emergency services rendered (the bill) will go to you and you have to pay it ….so let me get this straight. If under their care they happen to bruise my cat then I have to be OK with it. Not cool!! She also told my mother apart of grooming was deshedding him, bathing , cutting the hair out his ears. My mom goes back to pick up the cat and 1. She claimed before bathing him , he wouldn’t let go of whatever was in the back that he was holding on too and he hurt his foot. So keep a eye on it later 2.She never cut the hair out his ears , my mom asked her why and she said “because she didn’t ask “, my mom said but that was apart of the services included in the bill I paid for and showed the woman the contract that she gave her and the woman still insisted next time my mom needs to let them know 3. She deshedded him “a little bit” and told my mom to bring him back next week so she can make sure all the hair is gone ….I come in from out of state today just to see my cat looking the SAME EXACT WAY WHEN I LEFT HIM!!! This lady charged ALOT of money for services that were half down and too bring my cat back next week to make sure all the hair is gone is absorbed !! This was a total waste of money. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!! Whenever I got my cat groomed , YOU CAN TELL. He smells good. He looks good and we NEVER have to bring him back to make sure all the hair is gone! A total waste of money!!! He is still the hairy fur ball with all kind of hair sticking out his head and ears when I left him. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
Staff was great with my little lady! Guy named Darnell took the time to answer all my questions. My pup is horrible when getting nails trimmed but they handled her easily. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. Would go back 😊
I love bringing my dog here to bathe her. Friendly staff, great amenities. I love not having to bend -tub and tables raised to your preferred height. Dryers are awesome. We never feel rushed. What a relief not have to destroy our bathroom when our pup needs a bath!!💕
Do not go! Took my dog here a few times…noticed Every-time he comes home after being here he is scared and acting unusual. My dog has a lot of uneven spots and even cuts around his eyes! This place is too expensive, groomer doesn’t not follow instructions and I feel like I overpaid for her not to listen and do what she wants! I asked for a small trim and she leaves my dog with a very low cut, and it’s freezing outside… claiming he was too matted….no, you just need more skills! Smh I will NOT be returning!!!!
Before I recently moved, I took my cats to this groomer. They usually came home smelling great and feeling soft (one time the owner even sent them home with cute little pink bows😂). My cats are usually chill, so I don't think there would be any issue there, but my one long-haired cat has three legs, so I was concerned about that. However, after getting her groomed here, she looked great and the owner even shaved her underbelly to help her cool off and clean herself more easily. Definitely recommend. I added a picture of her with the shaved underbelly for reference.

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
