However, two reviews mention significant concerns about staff behavior and quality of service regarding cat grooming, pointing out issues like long wait times and poor communication. Despite these criticisms, the majority of customers feel their pets receive excellent grooming and care, with many returning due to positive experiences.
I’ve been getting my dog Muffin hair cut from rremmfor I luv the been going here for years for my she loves the owner. Everybody does a great job in there, but she knew the owner since she was a baby so thats always gone her fav person
Have always had a great experience here! They are very flexible and accommodating with appointments. So glad to have a great and reliable groomer in the neighborhood. It can get a bit pricey, but it seems like that’s everywhere nowadays. They do a great job, so it’s worth it! My mini golden doodle always looks great after being groomed here!
Before and after pics of my boys. Got a recommendation to this groomer from a friend who has brought his dog here for years. Everything about the experience was easy, top-notch, and for the first time ever, I am excited to bring my dogs back to a groomer. Alex did an amazing job with their grooming and other services. I had been told in advance that he has experience with Scottish Terrier and the "schnauzer cut" and it really shows. Kathy, the owner, was friendly and helpful and even called me during the cut to ask a specific question about their tails to make sure it was done the way I wanted. They will have my business until I either move from Philly, or God forbid their business closes. 5 stars.
LOVE bow wow & meows in fairmount. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. I loved my mavericks haircut! The groomer did such an excellent job on his haircut and was very knowledgeable! Thank you for such a pleasant first experience!
I can tell that BW&M puts a lot of effort into their work (not to mention patience). Other places have not been so detailed. They are very skilled and my dog always come out cute and soft!!
Kathy & Co. sure know how to make your pups feel, look and smell great! Don’t settle for anything less than the best! BWM is the place your pups want to be! Our pups sure look forward to their Spa days!
Top notch service. They're very friendly and professional. My dog has been booted out of every other groomer I've taken him to because they cant get him to stay still long enough to cut his hair. Alex is the ONLY groomer that cuts his hair without issue. I was referred to him by the vet that i called to have my dog sedated in order to groom him. He recommended Alex as a last resort before sedation. Alex does an amazing job every time. Before and after pics are all the proof you need. Doesn't even look like the same dog. Alex is the only groomer I'll take my dogs to.
I’ve not had my dog groomed here, but one of the employees upon opening today, had three dogs with them. While yelling and cursing on a street corner in the middle of the day, I was walking with my 5 year old who was stopping within feet of this person, I asked him to watch his language. He then told me, “your child doesn’t matter to me” and continued cursing while it looked like he was breaking into the building. I wouldn’t take my dog here. Will avoid walking by it too as the employees seem manic at best.
I scheduled an appointment because my cat needed to be sedated. I arrived almost an hour before the appt to ensure that my cat was adequately sedated. The groomer took 4 walkins before grooming my cat. And I walked back in to the groomers saying racial slurs. The owner threatened to send him home for being disrespectful. He attempted to groom my cat and did a poor job because the sedation had worn off after 3 1/2 hours of waiting. Last, he tried to whisper for the owner to charge me an additional $40 after paying $100 when he didn't complete the service because he allowed the sedation to wear off. It's bad business for the owner. If she allows that infection to grow it will certainly kill her business.
We’ve taken our pup here a few times now and have always left happy. They take a bit longer than other groomers we’ve tried (closer to 4-6 hours) but our little guy loves coming here. He gets so excited when we walk in. Prices are reasonable and consistent with other groomers we’ve tried.

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
