I have been taking my Australian Shepherd Scout here for almost a year now and I won’t take him anywhere else! Scout has fear aggression/reactivity and really struggles with new people, dogs, environments, sounds, etc. Due to this he has been turned away by many groomers but PNW grooming was willing to help and have beyond exceeded my expectations! Tasha specifically has been grooming him since his first appointment and she has done a wonderful job! Scout gets excited to go now and he always comes back smelling and looking good! They are very honest in how he was for the day and what they were able to do. They have been so accommodating to his needs and I feel so comfortable leaving him in their care. Their reception staff has also been wonderful. When I made a mistake when booking online, I called them (not expecting anything to actually open up) asking them to be put on a cancellation list and they were able to squeeze me in within the next week! I have been so happy with their service all across the board. They have a long term client out of me and I 10/10 recommend them!

I have a very reactive Cairn Terrier and he absolutely loves Tasha! In spite of his high energy Tasha has taught him to calm down and enjoy being groomed. He looks amazing every time. I have had people stop me on our walks and ask where I took him for his beautiful hair cut. I highly recommend PNW grooming.

We have been going to PNW since they first opened their doors. Fortunately, it coincided with our pup’s almost initial “first groom” session. We were referred to another salon before Michelle and Alex opened PNW. I wasn’t happy with that salon; cleanliness nor the vibe. I saw PNWs Grand Opening special in FB, and thought, What could it hurt! Three years later, our pup literally leaps everywhere when we mention she will see “Michelle today” or “”Tasha” PNW loves our pup and it shows…she cannot wait to get out of the car when we arrive. You cannot go wrong by choosing PNW Groom!!

they always do a great job. I get headaches with any strong smells and they have a soap that I can't smell at all. They are always nice and treat my dog well. this is the only place we go.

I just brought my puppy here yesterday, and he came out looking amazing! He looked like a new dog! This was his first professional groom, and they were so patient and caring towards him. Hannah did an amazing job! I will definitely be coming back! Thank you guys for pampering my pup, and treating him with love and care. ❤️

Frequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming

What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?

A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.

How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?

To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.

Why is professional cat grooming important?

Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.

How often should my cat be professionally groomed?

The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.

What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?

Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
