Reviews
The reviews for Towne House Groomers reflect a mix of experiences with a common theme of exceptional customer service and quality grooming for pets, especially dogs and cats. Many reviewers praised the kind and knowledgeable staff, particularly highlighting groomer Tatiana, and expressed satisfaction with their pets' grooming results, noting how their pets left happy and looking great. However, there are notable negative experiences as well, with some customers reporting long wait times, poor communication, and dissatisfaction with the grooming results, leading to significant concerns about the quality of care. Overall, while many customers are highly satisfied and recommend the grooming service, there are serious criticisms that indicate inconsistency in service quality and professionalism.
Love the place and also the staff is so nice and my dog walk in immediately and she loves attention no matter what . Tatiana is the best groomer and would totally recommend this place 10/10 . Lassie love townhouse and staff are so nice and welcoming and knowledgeable about grooming and condition of the dog . Here is the picture before and after the grooming . She look so beautiful š
I just took my 14 year old cocker spaniel there for the FIRST time and the haircut was incredible. Beautifully done. So professional staff. Really liked them better than the place I used to go to. Thank you!
Towne House is truly the best! I trust them every time with my Persian cat. He always leaves there feeling happy and looking super cute, whether itās a trim or lion cut š
They are the kindest and best groomer around. Scheduling with them is a breeze, and they really listen to your requests. No one has ever made my dogsā haircuts match their personalities as perfectly as Towne House. Weāve been coming here for almost a year now and weāre not going anywhere else.
***Think Twice Before Booking*** After hearing rave reviews from clients and the dog community, my husband and I were hopeful to finally find a new groomer. Unfortunately, our experience with Townhouse Groomers was both upsetting and disappointing. First, the 4-hour wait time was excessive for the work that was done, and the atmosphere was off-puttingāunprofessional, to say the least. While the woman at the front was kind and polite, the man working there was rude and dismissive from the start. He gave the impression that he didnāt care, which is unacceptable especially towards new customers. He didnāt even ask for proof of vaccination which is a BIG DISSERVICE (basic protocol) to other dog owners and community. I had to bring it to his attention. We had high expectations based on feedback however I suspect the staff is under New Management. To make matters worse, they failed to follow basic instructions. Despite being asked NOT to cut our dog's eyebrows, eyelashes, or beardā*ALL* were trimmed. I couldnāt believe it. (Groomer, were you even informed? ) I was hoping to support a small business, but after this experience, Iād rather take my dog to PETCO at Union Square, where they at least follow simple directions and are competent. This isnāt just a "bad expensive hair cut" reviewāit's a plea for improvement so future customers donāt have to go through the same ordeal. (Read other one star reviews) ***Unacceptable, get it together!
They always take the best care of my Shih tsu! I have tried and tested many groomers over the years, and there have been very few where my girl leaves wagging her tail and happy every time. Highly recommend!
I took my boy Nugget there back on Halloween day. Terrific job and I would definitely return. Before and after photos for reference.
I brought my dog in on a whim, after my neighbor Iliana highly recommended them to me. I thought our former groomers were great. Until I realized my dog Bandit was STILL unnervingly terrified, EVERY time we walked into the place. And I realized, changes had to be made. Quickly. Enter Town House. The staff is so caring. . He needs monthly nail trims. I KNOW I made the right choice because they make your pet their priority, no matter how much $ youāre spending .The amount of time they put into making Bandit comfortable, even though Iām only spending $25, (nail trim and tip) is AMAZING. In fact, it brought literal tears to my eyes when they trimmed the hairs away from Banditās eyes, and didnāt add $10 to the bill, they did it because they wanted Bandit to see well. Itās too bad that those acts of kindness from businesses are so rare! But Iām also aware that to be a small business in NYC is cruelly expensive. Which is why I understand why businesses ānickel and dimeā their customers. Just LIVING in NYC is extremely difficult. Unless youāre wealthy. Which I am NOT. But having pet groomers like āTown Houseā for whimpers are a passion. And not just a means for profit is so freeing. I no longer dread walking Bandit to get his nails trimmed. In the Spring Iām taking him in for a full groom and cut. His fur is pretty fine, so I only get him a full āpuppy cutā for the Summer months, and have his fur grow out for the Winter. Iām sure he wonāt display the same intense stress and anxiety, he did with his previous groomers. I think everyone in Chelsea should bring their fur children to āTown House groomers &Pet suppliesā. Neither you nor your pet(s) will regret it!!!ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø **I just HAD to add this ** I'm in the midst of a 1 year+ $$$ crisis. Long story short, in order to save much needed $$ (and NOT use ANY of my child's college fund) I tried to "DIY" some of Bandit's grooming. Trimming his nails... actually, it was more of an attempt to trim his nails, was disastrous. It's likely both of us have PTSD from that debacle. It was painfully obvious that I'd have to set aside some $$ for (much needed) monthly, nail trims. I resolved to ask Ellie if she could trim his nails a bit shorter or file them down to minimize his visits?? I told her about my unexpected, difficulties. And... She trimmed his nails, and gave him a sanitary groom (I didn't know about that till we got home), and re-trimmed (I had given him a lousy trim) the hair around his eyes... and she would NOT accept ONE penny from me. I would never expect nor ask for such a concession. Having a business in NYC is hard enough WITHOUT entitled clients. I BELIEVE in God. Despite my current hardship, I see the hand of God in my and my family's lives. Undoubtedly, Ellie, and Towne House are God sent. I'm sharing this because Ellie's grace, generosity, and concern is (regrettably) lacking in our city. What makes her kindness even more extraordinary is, We are new clients. I have NOT spent hundreds of $$at Towne House. Yet. And I WILL stay loyal. Partly because of Ellie's generosity. But MOSTLY because Bandit, LOVES Ellie. Bandit does NOT warm up to people easily. So when he DOES warm to someone? I pay attention. Lol. And Bandit's comfortability around Ellie is proof positive (IMO) that pets are NOT just "business", and "profit" for Ellie. Because although MY gratitude for her generosity knows no bounds... I know, scratch that... Bandit knows that Ellie did it for HIM. His comfort, and his health. Unless there's ANOTHER pet grooming business owner, that embodies Ellie's spirit, and business philosophy. Then everyone who reads this, should bring their beloved pet to 'Towne House' pet grooming, and supplies. **I apologize. Because obviously the "long story was NOT short" after all**
I would like to rate 0 stars if possible! Firstly the haircut was not done as I had hoped and secondly the skill of the personnel was so poor that it was unimaginable. My dog got a razor shave on his genitals and it just scabbed over today. My dog is feeling very uncomfortable and has been licking it with his tongue. My dog and I are both in a lot of pain!
Amazing staff and service! Our pup goes every month and always comes out looking and smelling great. Iām a bit neurotic with how I want his hair cut and they are so accommodating. He also pulls me to the store so I know heās treated well there.

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
