Mon Cheri is a hidden gem! After trying other pet shops and being unsatisfied, I stumbled upon Mon Cheri on a Google search. What a relief! They offer exceptional customer service, which is rare in some pet shops. They go above and beyond to accommodate your schedule and provide top-notch service. And the best part? They have fair prices, which is a rare find in the pet industry. Mon Cheri has become my puppies’ official pet salon, and they always come out looking fabulous! I highly recommend them. Thank you, ladies, for your amazing work! 🐾 🐾
Took my Yorkie to Liz for a full grooming. She is a fabulous groomer. She is professional, friendly and gives Excellent cleaning to my little Bella. I highly recommend Liz and Cheri. I might add that the place is super clean and so modern looking. I give Five Stars to those two ladies.
Mon CHÉRI is the best grooming spot in Albuquerque. I have tried other groomers but they kept my dogs too long and I was not satisfied. Since Mon CHÉRI moved in around the corner I have been taking my two pups to them and they have done such a great job. Their prices are reasonable, family operated and they love our pets. I love that I can make an appt and that time is devoted to my dog. Once they are done they call for pickup and my dog doesn’t have to sit there all day missing me. I love the little handmade scarves and little bows they put on my pups. They definitely go the extra mile.
I have been bringing my four Shih Tzus to Liz at Mon Cheri Pet Salon in Albuquerque, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the care and attention they receive! One of my dogs is geriatric, and Liz always takes the extra time to make sure she’s comfortable and safe throughout the grooming process. I also have another Shih Tzu who is terrified of groomers, but Liz is so patient and kind, helping him feel calm and at ease. The salon is always clean, the staff is friendly, and they genuinely love animals. I trust Liz and her team completely with my dogs, and I highly recommend Mon Cheri Pet Salon to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate groomer in the area!
Liz is an amazing groomer! When she left her previous place of business, Kylee loved her, and we were sad. Other groomers missed the mark when getting that true poodle look. The last time I took her, they said that Kylee was not comfortable with them and referred us to her new grooming salon. We are so happy Liz is grooming Kylee again. She just gets it and is so patient with Kylee. Love our Mon Cheri groomer!

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
