Our first time at Desert Pet Spa and it didn’t not disappoint! They were so kind and courteous, and really made my dog Eddie feel comfortable. They also did his haircut exactly what asked for, he looks adorable! I feel so good knowing he’s in good hands when we come back!

Wow! Just wow! Our dogs have never looked better and it's all because of Desert Pet Spa. The owner actually took the time to look at our dogs and groomed them based upon their personalities. I've never been to a groomer that paid more attention to detail. Even their paws are trimmed perfectly. I'm going to tell everyone I know and everyone they know about this gem of a place. Hope they don't raise their prices once everyone knows about them! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Today was the first time I sent my three dogs to be groomed here. I have a Havanese, sheep, poo and golden retriever. The place is immaculate, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. All three of my dogs came out absolutely perfect. The dogs smell great, look great and we’re totally calm when I came to pick them up. Usually they can’t wait to get out, but it was different this time. The groomers name is DeAngelo Jenkins.

Today was my second experience at Desert Pet Spa with my Morkie and both times have been great. Another salon I went to made my dog very choppy, but not here! He looks handsome and well groomed each time. They also don't kennel the dogs but let them play and play with them. They really like what they do and enjoy the dogs. Everyone is very friendly and I enjoyed speaking with the owners today. Very kind and good to my dog (and kind to my kiddos too). Definitely recommend DPS!! Pics of before and after attached.

Today I went to Desert Pet Spa for the first time. They have recently opened. I am Japanese and heard that the owner is Japanese, so I decided to give it a try. The owner has been grooming as a business owner for many years. When I picked up my dogs, they were in excellent spirits, so I knew they were treated with kind & loving care. There is a large window and walkway on the side of the salon which allowed me to see my doggies being groomed. I would recommend this new spa 100%.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming

What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?

A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.

How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?

To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.

Why is professional cat grooming important?

Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.

How often should my cat be professionally groomed?

The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.

What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?

Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
