Overall, customers express high satisfaction with the grooming services at K9 & Kitty Kutters, often highlighting the exceptional skill and compassion of the staff, particularly Megan. Many reviews mention the patience and care shown to anxious pets, with customers noting the positive transformations in their dogs and cats after grooming. The grooming quality is consistently praised, and many pet owners appreciate the personal attention and thorough communication the staff provides, reflecting a strong commitment to pet well-being. However, there is one negative review regarding a cancellation issue, which contrasts sharply with the overwhelmingly positive feedback on service quality and staff interactions.

Megan was amazing! Got my reactive 70 pound GSD’s nails trimmed in less than 5 minutes, a superstar!!! Couldn’t be more grateful to find someone so open and willing to take care of our boy!

Past reviewers weren't kidding about their 5 stars! My mom dropped off my Himalayan cat, who had quite a few matted knots unfortunately. The groomer was willing to get on the phone with me to explain the different cuts he could have. He came out spectacular !! It's the best lion cut he's ever had without a doubt. The lady who groomed him ran a Pet Smart for several years.

I made an appointment with K9 and Kitty Kutters to have my dog groomed. The appointment was made 5-6 weeks in advance. I was clear during the call that he was having surgery 5 days after and we needed his hair cut short. I was assured that this would be noted. Less than 36 hours before that appointment, I received a call that said the business would be closed for vacation and my appointment was cancelled. As far as I know, vacations are in appointment books so things like this don’t happen. This was so unprofessional. If you have your dog groomed around here you know you can’t get next-day appointments anywhere. This business cancelling his appointment screwed my dog from any chance of getting washed, nails trimmed and his hair cut before we had to restrict his activity for 4-6 weeks. Further, I called back and left a message acknowledging their cancellation and expressed how unhappy I was with the situation. They contacted me weeks later saying I had left them a message requesting an appointment. I certainly had not done this. This business in disorganized and unprofessional.

The staff are always so kind, caring and welcoming. They take time to get to know you and your pet to ensure great service. My dog is a nervous boy, but after a grooming appointment he was happy and comfortable.

Megan is amazing!! Our sweet, yet temperamental, rescue pup Dante can get very anxious and nippy/aggressive with grooming. When we moved to Minneapolis I wasn’t initially able to find somewhere that was able to get him through a complete grooming, and I was hopeless until I found Megan and K9 & Kitty Kutters! I mean, look at him, he is smiling! Megan was so patient with him, and I am so thankful to have found her!

This place is wonderful. All the staff has been kind and helpful. Megan has been our main cat groomer for a while now and is fantastic. Megan is so skilled and compassionate. She does an amazing job grooming them and we are so grateful to have her help with our kitties.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars! Best service I could have hoped for and so cute inside! I inherited my cat when my mom passed away in April. He is a wonderful long haired cat named Wally. I have never had a cat before. I was brushing him regularly but he was getting matted so I started searching for a solution. A lion cut seemed to be the best option so I started looking for a cat groomer. The reviews were good here so I brought him in to see Megan. She was fabulous. Very kind to Wally and very fast. I was nervous because he had never been groomed before. He looked amazing and I could tell he was much happier to have all that fur gone. And he didn't seem stressed at all when I picked him up. I will go back even though it is a 30 minute drive. Well worth it. I highly recommend!

I brought in one of my kitties, he's sort of a shy guy. Megan, did a wonderful job. She got all of the matts out and he looks wonderful. Everyone of the staff are very caring people. They love animals! My kitty had never been to a groomer before. I was a little worried how he'd react. Thanks so much! Penny

Frequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming

What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?

A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.

How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?

To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.

Why is professional cat grooming important?

Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.

How often should my cat be professionally groomed?

The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.

What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?

Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
