Reviews
The reviews reveal a stark divide in customer experiences at the grooming salon, particularly concerning service quality and pet care. A significant number of customers expressed severe dissatisfaction, citing incidents where their pets were injured during grooming, leading to costly vet bills and a lack of accountability from the staff. In contrast, many others praised the salon for their attentive and gentle handling of pets, reporting positive grooming outcomes and effective communication with both dogs and cats. Overall, while some customers are staunch advocates for the grooming service, sharing heartwarming stories of their pets' joyful experiences, a troubling pattern of injuries and customer service issues persists, indicating inconsistent standards and care practices.
Warning! Please don't bring your pet here. Owners do not stand behind their work and don't take responsibility for actions. They cut my dog really bad and did not want to pay for the ($800) vet bills. Dropped dog off at 10:30 got a call at 10:50 that my dog was cut to the point of needing multiple stiches. She had minor matting that would not require a full body shave confirmed by the vet and the person checking us in at the salon, but when I went to pick her up she was more than half shaved. I got conflicting stories from employees about the situation so I am unsure of what transpired. My dog had multiple other nicks and wounds from the grooming in addition to the large laceration. They don't require vaccinations here either.
My little midnight was looking mangy and I wasn't sure what to expect for his first time being groomed. I picked him up and was amazed at the quality of the cut. Midnight was even happy after the experience, which told me they A. Were gentle to him and B. Made it a positive first time for him. Price was about what you see elsewhere.
These 2 dogs are well known at Bonnie's and ~~they always do OK getting thier nails trimmed~~ JK I had to edit this review because I heard portobello started furiously kicking the groomer like he's tryinging to get a part in a kung fu movie or something, SMH Not bonnies' fault lol, dog is being a pissbaby
I brought my dog in for a grooming here a few months ago and I’m pretty disappointed. I’d brushed her out a few hours before the appointment. My dog is not easy to groom, as she is double coated and is a spaniel/poodle mix. Not only did they completely shave my dog, but they left a random tuft of hair at the end of her tail (I’m assuming because they thought it was cute?). Additionally, I realized they’d never taken my deposit off of my bill the first time I went and they were not able to access my receipt. Only reason I’m giving them two stars and not one is because I’d previously had a positive experience with them.
They cut a hole on my dogs leg right were the tended is at. Might need stitching. This is the second time they cut my dog. Also this one is a bigger cut then last time. DO NOT COME HERE!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Good groomers with great prices! I have taken my dogs here four times for a standard bath, brush and nail trim and they always look great. This is the most affordable place in the uptown area and are often able to be very accommodating and squeeze in a quicker service. My French bulldog is a normally very sweet boy but can be an absolute jerk when it comes to his nails. One of the visits he was not having it and the groomer informed me they were unable to finish that service for concerns of his stress level. I highly appreciate a groomer being thoughtful of the dogs experience and well-being. She made some good suggestions on what to try to relax him next time I bring him in. He was fine for all of the other services and his normal good boy self. My mutt shepherd mix is a sweet bag of lazy bones and was just happy to have so much attention. I informed them it was his first professional grooming and that he had a previous ear injury to be gentle around and they took great care of him and he was still a very happy boy after his first experience. Overall I would recommend this place for their great availability and good prices. It works well for me and my dogs since they don’t really need any sort of fancy grooming.
My cat had some pretty bad matting and I was looking all over for quality groomers who could help him out for a reasonable price. I was very nervous about the whole process. But they really did a fantastic job here and I couldn’t be happier!
I will be a forever customer. My golden Pete had such a great experience and this is honestly the best cut he’s ever received. Will be coming back! I don’t remember the name of who did our groom but she was wearing a purple shirt! Thank you so much for taking care of my boy and for all the great tips about his anxiety! Would 100% recommend
The staff here are literally Saint's!! I can't say enough good things about this place! I have a very feral high strung cat and somehow, they shave her completely and do such a great job every single time!!! I highly recommend Bonnie's Royal Pet!!
I do not usually take the time to write negative reviews, but I still think about this place from over a year of me no longer taking my long haired cat here. The first time I took my cat was great and I called after I got home to ask if I needed to bring back a collar for him. They told me he was done already and I could pick him up. GREAT! The second time I brought him in, they told me two hours again and this time I waited over 2 hours and still no phone call. I ended up calling them and the worker went to “check” if he was done, and said “oh looks like he is!” ?? I would recommend a more organized, efficient way of contacting the owners after the groom is done. I don’t care to have my cat sit in his small carrier in a dark room with industrial fans blowing everywhere, and dogs barking the entire time. I’m sure he was done well before I called- was there a reason he had to sit there until after the 2 hour mark? When I picked up my cat he was very quiet and timid. When we got home he was very sleepy and behaved unlike himself, isolated. After this experience, I heard talk of other previous customers and how they have used synthetic ways to get animals to cooperate better and I would not be surprised, but hope it is not true. Everything was written down on paper when I took my pet here, no electronic data- very old school. They did not check or ask if he was updated on vaccinations or request those paperwork, not ask about health conditions of my pet. This is necessary for the health of all animal clients!!! Has this been changed? What other requirements do you chose not to follow? I hope sterilization techniques are a priority. I hope the groomers are up to date for continuing education. The price was also different both visits few months apart like they make it up on the spot. There was no change in type of groom. The grooming beds are right next to eachother in one small, open spaced room. I would recommend a more updated, ethical grooming salon for anyone searching. I regret taking my cat here :(

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
