Reviews
Customer reviews of La Chic Grooming reveal a significant divide in experiences, with a troubling number of negative reports highlighting poor service and care. Several customers expressed dissatisfaction with grooming quality, recounting incidents of improper cuts, injuries to their pets, and long wait times that left pets crated for extended periods. On the other hand, many cat owners praised the establishment for its attentive and kind staff, who provided quality grooming and made their pets feel comfortable. Overall, while some clients are enthusiastic about the service and care, particularly for cats, there are serious concerns about safety, cleanliness, and service standards that potential customers should consider.
Awful. Asked for a standard puppy cut on my labradoodle, got a mess. Uneven and patchy across the body, with random chunks left long. Worst was the face, which they barely trimmed, and mismatched to rest of body. I suspect they didn’t blow dry him, coat smelled perfumed but fur was not fluffy, and had an almost greasy texture. $100 down the drain, first and last time coming here.
They keep hiding mine and my friends reviews but they took a chunk out of my dogs leg, pretended it was normal, didn’t apologize, he got an infection, had to wear a cone for 3 weeks, it was horrible. they said it was a little nick, when the stuff they put on it to stop the bleeding came off it was a full blown wound. also the place is disgusting, there are literally bugs crawling out of the trash can, the groomer was 2 hours late, and there is no way the back room is up to health code. terrifyingly disgusting.
About as simple of a clean as it gets plus the price is great! A couple touches to the shop for a cleaner aesthetic would earn that last star. I’d come back again just for good customer service.
I absolutely love this place! I live in Hyde Park and make my way to Charlestown to come here. I get my cat a lion cut every year right before summer. (I am really allergic to her so when she starts to shed her winter coat I have to get her shaved.) this is the third year I have brought her here and will do it again for years to come. The staff is unbelievable, so kind and very nice. It's so hard to find a place to groom cats yet alone a good place and I feel so comfortable leaving my little baby. She is never scared after I pick up and that is just the cherry on top. Great great place!
I come here for an annual lioncut for my indoor long-haired cat. La Chic is always prompt, friendly, and do a great job. My cat is the fussy kind that doesn't particularly like being brushed and definitely doesn't like his nails trimmed, so props to the professionals here for getting him fresh, cut, and trimmed so he can run around in the summer without overheating. This year they even did a fade on my cat's front legs and it looks incredible :D
I'm very disappointed with the service I received here. I dropped my cats off in the morning at the time of their appointment. I waited over four hours to be notified that they were done. The call never came and becoming nervous, I drove to La Chic to see if they were done yet. On arrival I was told that they were "just finished." I'm assuming this must mean they were trapped in their cage for 2+ hours before their grooming started. I would have dropped them off at a later time had I known they would not be seen at the time of their appointment. Additionally, I was told that one cat had gotten a "nick" on his leg. Upon taking him home, I noticed that it was actually a 2 inch gash. The cat needed medical attention. It's safe to say I won't be coming back here.
Our long-haired baby who has PTSD had a bad matte on her butt, so we decided it was time for a snip, plus we thought she would look good/hilarious with a lion cut. The groomer was very kind & informative of options available. They had her for a few hours and were able to do her nails as part of the package (yay!) Expect to pay ~$100 for this type of service. We'll be back!
Awesome place! Robert and his team do an excellent job. Highly recommend. Even my cat loves to come here. Last time Tama got a shampoo and comb out and looked and smelled just fabulous.
I don’t usually ever write reviews but I felt very obligated to do this one. This was my first time going here and I should’ve taken the reviews more seriously because I always think this won’t happen to me. His appointment was more than 5 hours before the actual pick up. I went in 4 hours after I dropped him off and they told me he wasn’t ready and I saw that they were just getting started. I was furious because it meant he was crated for four hours prior in this shop that he’s no familiar with and more than 5 hours total in this shop. Honestly please think of the dogs before you think of more profits. Don’t overbook your clients and then make the dogs suffer. Please please make sure to schedule your clients properly and when the appointments were made. My dog was crying and so scared and I sat there listening to this lady yell at my dog. I asked why he was in there for so long and explaining it by saying all the others dogs were there that long as well is super unreasonable. It has been just a little over five hours since the appointment time I booked and that’s so inhumane. He needs to have a potty break he’s a young puppy and can’t hold it in for that long. It stressed me out so much I can’t imagine how my pup felt. I’m going to my original groomer I will not return here and please think about the dogs first omg I was so stressed. They also kept closing the door as I was adamant about staying and couldn’t see anything. My other groomers, ONYVA, has windows so you can clearly see how your pup is doing and it’s so much more sanitary and professional there. I’m literally crying my pup went through so much.
Nervous cause our cat Bella is sometimes scared and she has not been able to get groomed before due to inexperience at other salons but La Chic is THE BEST! Bella loves them and we also love them for how good they are! Been twice now and each time they are excellent! TRY THEM! They always answer phone and treat your animal like their own. Very appreciative of them, THANK YOU LA CHIC!

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
