I boarded my girls (ages 5 and 8) at Meeow Chicago in Lincoln Park for the first time this past January 2025. It was for 10 days total and was a great experience for both me and my babies. Their apartment had ample toys, climbing opportunities, places to rest, bird TV (which my eldest cat liked to watch), and a bubble window (through which my youngest cat liked to watch other cats and the staff). Their space had a PetCube so I was able to check in on my cats and use the PetCube's interactive laser to play with them. The staff was amazing and sent me daily photos (some are included in this review). I think the cost of boarding them at Meeow Chicago is well worth the price. I trust the staff and plan to board them again there with my future travels. I highly recommend their services!
I’ve used Meeow Chicago’s mobile grooming service regularly for my cat since 2020. They have been amazing every time. They take wonderful care of my cat and I’ve always been happy with the grooming result. The mobile grooming is very convenient and minimizes stress for my cat, who hates to be in the carrier for longer car rides. The team is very responsive and easy to communicate with. Sometimes flexibility in scheduling is required on my side because of their high demand, but it’s worth it!
I'm delighted to share my experience with boarding my kitten was fantastic! It's wonderful that the boarding facility was able to accommodate my last-minute request and provide exceptional care for my kitten. The daily updates and accompanying photographs they send are a marvelous way to stay connected and offer you reassurance. I highly recommend their exceptional service. Heather and Jennifer, you guys ROCK
Absolutely phenomenal experience. They went above and beyond for my two boys. What was a rough moving situation for two nervous cats was made so much easier with Meeow Chicago. We went with the City Kitty suite and being able to play laser with them help us from missing them too too much. Honestly, I will be recommending them to everyone I know who needs cat boarding and using them anytime I ever need cat boarding again. Thank you so much to Vicky and Jennifer!!
Had a great experience boarding our two cats here. We needed a safe place for them last minute and Heather could not have been nicer. We got pictures of them and they clearly felt at home.
MEOW CHICAGO is the best option for your kitty! Definitely the best stress free environment and the staff is amazing! My cat Sage has stayed at other establishments that have caused her a lot of stress to the point she wouldn’t eat or eliminate regularly. This was the first time I’ve gotten daily picture updates where she looked comfortable and happy! Thank you to the amazing Meow Chicago Staff! I will definitely be boarding Sage again in the near future! If you’re looking for a trustworthy and reliable place where your furbaby can be in good hands I definitely recommend Meow Chicago! It’s definitely worth the price! Attached some photos they sent! She loved it there!
Was out of town for the holidays and Meeow Chicago took care of my cat. They sent updates frequently so I knew my cat was in good hands. Communication is very important for me especially when it comes to my cat. Top notch communication and facility, would definitely come here again should I be out of town for an extended period.
From the beginning, Meeow Chicago impressed us, from their professional demeanor on the phone and friendly tour of their facility to the checkin process. We were gone for almost two weeks and the daily pictures gave us such peace of mind. We will definitely be using Meeow Chicago for any future boarding needs and would highly recommend that you do the same!
i love having my cat groomed here!! my cat is elderly and doesn’t clean herself very well. the groomers never* make me feel guilty or bad and are always understanding! they are so fast and communicative and my cat adores her groomer. thank you so so much!!!
We love Meeow Chicago's mobile grooming and wouldn't trust our fluffy guy to anyone else! They are excellent with cats, trustworthy, and completely professional. We tried other groomers in the past and when we picked our Meatball up he was scared and traumatized - that has never happened with Meeow. They are kind and careful, and you can tell that you're in good hands - they really are the best!

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
