Animal Lovers is the best groomers in Chicago! We’ve been using their services for 2 years now. Chip and all the staff are so caring towards the dogs. They are super flexible if needed and very kind and caring. Their services for dog groming are top quality. Our dogs have never had better cuts. They’re truly talented and the best people. I wouldn’t even consider another groomers in Chicago.
I absolutely love Animal Lovers Pet Salon! They always do a thorough job with my short hair dog and her nails always look great. It is a bit on the more expensive side, but you do get what you pay for with the care for your pet, with the quality of the products and with the work done. (also love the flowers that they give with the groom) I take my literal child here (my dog), so I of course would recommend this groomer to anyone looking for a top tier groom for their pet.
They were awesome with my kitty for nail clipping. It took two visits and two people to hold her to get all four paws done, but Chip and his colleagues were very understanding and sweet. Definitely going there again :)
LOVE LOVE LOVE Chip the owner and all of his groomers. Gia is 13 yrs old and they take really good care of her. Her hair cuts always look great and are exactly the way I want them. They are on time, professional and very friendly. I HIGHLY recommend this establishment for an excellent pet grooming experience!
This place is great! Chip and his staff are very professional, friendly and welcoming. My mini goldendoodle, Bo, gets excited when we walk in the door and is just as excited (and even more handsome!) when I pick him up. Their grooming is flawless and Bo comes out looking like a stud every time.
Chip and his staff are the most sensitive and caring people in the industry. Our little girl's haircut is always adorable and she seems very happy there. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Animal Lovers. If you can get an appointment (they are very busy) you won't be sorry! It's worth the wait!!
Incredible work done by Chip and the staff. The prices can't be beat for the service they provide. My Chloe just looks so adorable after her grooming. My favorite are the bows they put on her fur. We've been a client for 3-4 years now, can't image going any where else 😍🐶
Chip and his staff have been taking care of my dog for 7 years now. They take care of him like he is their own and always have great customer service. When I moved out of the city I still make the trip every month in to the city as I know my dog is in great hands. I highly recommend Animal Lovers Pet Salon!
7 amazing years with ALPS! I have a double coated breed which are difficult to groom properly without damaging both coat layers but ALPS does it perfectly every time. My guy does not like to be groomed but ALPS are flexible and patient and treat him well every time. Thank you from Tom and Drogo! 🐾
Chip (and team) always does an amazing job with our mini golden-doodle for trims, haircuts, nails, sanitary, & teeth cleaning… the works! We won’t take Perri anywhere else for top notch, local service. We first started bringing him to the salon in 2021. Chip asked questions from the start to ensure we got just the cut we wanted and has stayed communicative ever since. Thanks!

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
