I've been coming here for my cat squeaky ever since we moved to Tampa about 2 years ago. They always take great care of her and she looks and feels great after her grooming appt. Theyre the only groomer in the area that I've ever used and the only one I ever will use.

We love Joni’s. Everyone on staff there is super friendly, even the cats and birds. Front desk staff is always kind and welcoming. We have seen Tatiana on three occasions for hand stripping and she has done a beautiful service for our German Wirehaired Pointer. She was immediately familiar with the breed standard and even educated us on some things. I am admittedly meticulous and at times hard to please but Joni’s and Tatiana have exceeded my expectations.

Joni has been our pups’ groomer since she opened her doors many years ago. Fantastic grooming, but more than that, the staff does excellent work and all are clearly animal lovers. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

They must be GREAT as they are not able to take new clients. (Jan 18, '25) They are all booked up for months to come. They don't return calls of folks who are not current clients due to this as well. Their inability to take new clients isn't reflected on their website or Google, AND TO TOP THIS OFF, they couldn't direct me to another good groomer in the area. Having just moved here I am at a loss, especially since I can walk my fur ball to Joni's and my buddy is in real need of Joni's services. 'Tis a shame I will have to return to our previous groomer of fifteen years some fifty miles away but at least my buddy will be in her familiar hands.

Joni's shop always does a great job grooming my pup, Lando. He enjoys going there because they treat him great and he gets to see all the different animals that are at the shop. The price is reasonable and Lando always leaves looking like a million bucks!

I used to bring my dog Maggie. They were so gentle with her and they did a great job trimming her nails and caring for her. She passed away sometime ago.She was 17 years old and she was a large dog so she lived a long beautiful life and she always enjoyed going to Jonis pet salon and meeting all the other animals.

I went by this morning wanting to gauge the atmosphere before entrusting my pet with a new salon. A dog fight looked like it was about to break out and after an employee ran towards it I heard the owner yell while the employee rushed over and was already doing multiple things at once. It discouraged me from bringing my baby here and was incredibly unprofessional. If the owner can scream at an employee, how will they act towards my pet if it can't stay still for the whole grooming process?

Joni was able to fit my dog Jackson in for a quick bath and trim. This was his first time ever being groomed and we cannot be happier! She was very nice and accommodating and our dog Jackson settled in great once she began grooming. I can tell he was well cared for and looks and smells amazing!! I highly recommend!! Plus her pricing was very reasonable.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming

What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?

A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.

How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?

To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.

Why is professional cat grooming important?

Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.

How often should my cat be professionally groomed?

The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.

What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?

Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
