Reviews
Customer reviews of the grooming salon reflect a mix of satisfaction and frustration, primarily centered on service quality and customer care. While several clients praise the grooming results and express happiness with their pets' experiences, there are significant complaints about poor communication, inconsistent quality of haircuts, and impatience from staff. Issues such as mismatched expectations for service, lack of guidance for first-time pet owners, and the owner's decreased availability seem to contribute to declining customer satisfaction. Overall, while some clients are loyal and enjoy the grooming services, many are considering seeking other options due to dissatisfaction with customer service and inconsistency in grooming results.
I’ve been here on two occasions. First Time: I took my friend’s dog for a haircut (it was my first time taking a dog to get groomed). I spoke with the lady there, and we agreed on a service. When I got the dog back, he looked like a huge puffball. It would have been nice if she had called me to recommend a haircut, but instead, she gave him back to me looking like an unkempt ball of fur (he’s a black dog). Literally ended up buying my own clippers and trying to cut and shape him myself .As a first-time customer, I wasn’t sure what to ask for, and I would’ve appreciated some guidance. Second Time: When I got my own puppy at 11 weeks, I took him there for a bath and haircut. Based on my previous experience, I made sure to call ahead and discuss the service for my puppy, and she recommended something. I clearly stated that he needed a haircut. When I arrived and mentioned again that he needed a haircut, she told me she didn’t have time for that based on what I booked—even though I had booked exactly what she recommended over the phone. I asked if she could fit him in later that day, but she said they couldn’t. She suggested I book a different service for another day. I ended up booking it, but I got frustrated and decided to cancel the appointment altogether. What was most concerning was that she did not ask for any vaccination records and as a first time puppy owner, I did not know that it is preferred that they are vaccinated before the first groom session. I did not learn this until after calling around other groomers . Guess it worked out for the best. Overall, they’re good at grooming, but the customer service and attitude need improvement. A little effort to communicate better would make a big difference.
I have been coming here since this place opened. The owner Valeria is an amazing groomer, very sweet and seems to love all the pups that visit grooming salon. However ever since she opened the downtown location this place (sunset location) has changed drastically. It has be come extremely Impersonal, Her prices have changed and gone up, which is fine, but the structure is set up in a way to try and over charge you for every little thing every single time I bring my two dogs here they want to weigh them and charge me something different even though both of my dogs are full-grown and have maintain the same weight for a very long time. The new groomers she has working at the sunset location are terrible! My dogs haircuts always come out super choppy and uneven. Or the cut way way more than what was requested, just terrible! Every single time I ask for Valeria to please groom my dogs they always tell me no. She’s not there, and basically I don’t have a choice. I have tried to reach out to her via text message quite a few times, and she no longer responds to my messages where as before she was extremely personable and would always respond. This past weekend, I brought both of my dogs to be groomed. The girl in the front tried to convince me that my little cocker spaniel mixed breed dog was a doodle. To charge me more and he looks absolutely like a doodle! Anyone could look at this dog and he’s not a golden doodle. He has fine straight hair and skinny like a wiener dog. I literally had to argue with this girl to tell her absolutely not. he’s not a doodle, and offered to show her Testing I did on my dog for years ago. I don’t like the way his haircut came out. It’s very choppy in a lot of areas and extremely uneven and no precision anywhere. The pads under their paws was left with long uneven patches of hair that were never shaved down They cut way more than what I wanted and it’s just very uneven. If Valeria had done my dogs, they would not look that way. The following day, I brought my other dog to be groomed, and all I wanted was the hair trimmed out of her eyes so she could see, and I expressed my goal was to grow the hair out. She’s is a doodle. When I picked her up, the whole front of her head was shaved back and she looked like a baboon. Absolutely terrible this is the worst she’s ever looked. And she still can’t see because there’s still hair in her eyes.. I sent a text message to reach out to try and speak with her(owner Valeria) regarding this matter and of course I got no response. I have also referred many people, they too have all reported back to me the lack of customer service and unwelcome feeling they got when they tried to book the appointment with Valeria. I really liked this place but unfortunately, I will be looking for another groomer that does a better job and has better customer service.
Brought my youngest cat to get groomed here and I’m so happy that I did because they took care of Rajah so well with his lions cut! The blue bow tie was the sweetest touch! Thank you again 21 Pooch!
I’ve been coming here for a few months now, I’m typically Leary of new places but I’m glad I gave this place a chance. I’m really happy with my fur babies results. I now take my new fur baby here and they do a wonderful job with him as well. I like I typically get the same few groomers and that allows the relationship to build which always makes your fur baby more comfortable when being left somewhere. I appreciate the service and kindness here.
I just moved here from NY. My yorkie has really bad anxiety with groomers so she’s not easy to handle. They did a great job, she was difficult to work with and I know they had missed a few little areas but that’s because my dog is tricky to work with. I’m glad they took their time to make sure she didn’t get injured in the process. This place is very close to my new home, so I’m glad I was able to find a new groomer that I can now take my little Peanut to!
I have been looking for this level of grooming for my dog for a long time. She was not nervous with the masters of this salon and looked simply amazing ✨ Now I go here often! Fav groomers here 🫰🏻
The only place I take my pup to get groomed. The environment is welcoming and safe for pups. The reason I made 21 Pooch my dogs groomer is because whenever I bring my pup he’s excited to see the staff which makes me feel at ease that’s my pup is being treated well while getting groomed. I’m always satisfied with the out come of the style and cut I requested. I highly recommend!
Took my 9 month old teacup Pomeranian for his first hair cut and let me tell you how cute he came out. Exactly what I asked for, and everyone was so nice. Definitely coming back!
I used to love coming here. Valeria is great and I was so excited that I had found her. I have 4 Yorkies and I have to bring them from Irvine (Orange County) and then take them back. It’s an exhausting process and I have to drive 1.5 hours each way to get to the salon. I made appointment like I usually do with Valeria via text and she confirmed me for appointment for 11 am for 4 dogs. I drive 1.5 hours, one of the dogs gets car sick and vomits all over me, but I’m like it’s ok it will be amazing hair cuts it’s worth the trouble. I get to the salon and I ask to see Valeria and they said that she is not here today and she won’t be doing the cuts. I was so mad that this was not told to me as I wouldn’t come all this time to get cut by someone else that Valeria trained. They convinced me it will be great don’t worry so I said okay. NOT OKAY: they did such a horrible job, they forgot to cut the nails of one, all 4 dogs looks so uneven and all the hair was cut wrong. I asked for a round teddy bear face and they look like rats. The body hair is so uneven and everything just terrible. I am so disappointed and extremely mad and frustrated that this happened after I had made my appointment and they knew I only want to have Valeria cut my dogs hair. Valeria then offers nothing and says if you want me to cut their hair I will give you a different price as if the $80 per dog under 9 pounds is not enough for a haircut she then now wants to charge extra for doing the job. It’s totally infuriating. My dogs look so bad their hair is all uneven and now I have to wait 2-3 months to get their haircut fixed. Terrible terrible customer service. You just lost 4 dogs. They just opened another salon In DTLA so she is focusing on that instead of keeping the current customers happy. Go elsewhere they clearly don’t even care.
I’ve been using their grooming services for a while now, and I’m really happy with them! The team is always professional, and they do a great job every time. I trust them completely, and my dog loves the salon too!

Call to BookFrequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming
What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?
A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.
How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?
To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.
Why is professional cat grooming important?
Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.
How often should my cat be professionally groomed?
The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.
What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?
Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
