Many reviewers commend the owner, specifically mentioning her ability to handle pets gently and effectively, whether they are dogs or cats. The use of safe and efficient grooming techniques, such as the dremel for nail trimming, is noted positively, alongside the shop's affordability and accommodating nature for last-minute appointments. Despite minor concerns about limited operating hours and the shop's small size, the consensus is that Paw'ket Paw'lour offers a warm and caring environment for pet grooming.

I take my pups here to get their nails trimmed, especially my grandbaby bully Mochi because she is a two person operation being that she's close to 40 pounds & very strong. Fatima uses a dremel which is quite safe & very efficient especially if the dog moves. You can't accidentally clip to close to the quick like you can with nail clippers. Fatima is also great with sanitary shaves for my long-haired Tabby cat Gnocchi. The hours are not your typical 9-5, you should call ahead & schedule an appointment.

We took our dog for the first time there and they did an amazing job. The place is small and simple but service was excellent. Price was reasonable and they were very friendly.

This place is awesome and a lot cheaper than I anticipated! I can't remember exactly what her name is but she was a gem and so friendly and so nice to our pup! My go-to groomer from now on!

This place has nothing but glowing reviews. I figured it’s important to note that, wonderful as it is, it is not perfect. I brought my pup here for the first time a couple weeks ago, and the first thing that struck me is how limited the hours are – they’re open only 3 days a week, for about 5 hours each day. Also I’m not even sure if there’s an actual shop to go into – I was asked to wait on the sidewalk during the 10-minute procedure, though I admit that was possibly because they were still in the process of opening up for the day. But perhaps worst of all is the business name itself – trying to wrap my head around the possible expected pronunciation of the word “paw’lour” makes my OCD flare up until I’m verging on a full-fledged panic attack! It approaches the frustration of trying to work out how in the heck to say “Gough” when I was a new resident to the city. So I try not to think about it. I’m still giving this place an easy 5 stars however, and I’d give it more if I could. The lady that helped me was super friendly, she took my little girl immediately without an appt and before they were even officially open, and - most importantly - I’ve never been so impressed with how well her nails came out. I’d have to be some kind of nut to get hung up on something as trivial as a slightly odd business name. I‘ve finally found a place I look forward to going back to regularly.

Having recently adopted my first cat, when the time came to cut its nails, I wasn't too sure I could go it alone. I saw a bunch of tense YouTube videos and knew I wouldn't be able to do the deed myself the first time, but there weren't any pet shops close by the offered the proper services. Paw'ket Paw'lour (PP) happened to be around the corner so I decided to give it a shot. It's a tiny shop that's big on care and service; the shop owner is super friendly and accommodating and was quick to provide new service. Not only did she handle my cat's nails in under 5 minutes with my cat having none of the distress I had seen in online videos, the shopowner taught me how so I could potentially do it myself. She also charged an incredibly reasonable $10 and refused any extra tip. It's a wonderful place and I will be taking my cat there from now on.

My regular groomer, she is fantastic! I bring my Maine Coon Douggie here about every 6 weeks for a lion cut and I could not be happier with the service, the price, the environment and the results! I continually recommend their service!

We brought our dog here when we needed an emergency shampooing and grooming after she got lots of ticks on her during a hike. These guys were open on a Sunday, accommodated us last minute, and did a thorough check for ticks. I was also really happy that they used a real anti-tick shampoo with permethrin after calling around different groomers in SF and being annoyed that others claimed to do anti-tick grooming but just used naturopathic shampoos that don't actually have the right chemicals to kill ticks. Dog came back very clean and very happy. We will use these guys again!

I have been to a couple different dog groomers in the city and this is by far the best place! It is definitely a much cheaper in cost than other places, and I also found the quality much better than other places. It is a small shop, but everyone is extremely friendly! I greatly recommend Paw'ket Paw'lour!!

I have been taking my service dog to this groomer for eleven years and so if that's not enough to convince anyone that this is one of the best groomers in the city and if your looking for a great place to take your dog then give Paw'Ket Paw'Lour a try. You won't be sorry.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cat Grooming

What should I expect during a professional cat grooming session?

A typical professional cat grooming session usually begins with a consultation to discuss your cat's needs. The groomer will then examine your cat's coat and skin condition before proceeding with services like brushing to remove loose fur, bathing with cat-specific shampoo, blow-drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any specialized haircuts if needed. Most sessions take between 1-2 hours depending on your cat's coat condition and temperament.

How should I prepare my cat for a grooming appointment?

To prepare your cat for grooming, brush them at home a few days before to remove loose fur and minor tangles. Keep your cat in a secure carrier for transportation. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork and allow your cat time to adjust to the new environment. Bring information about your cat's health, temperament, and any areas they're sensitive about. For anxious cats, consider withholding food for 2-3 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of stress-related nausea.

Why is professional cat grooming important?

Professional cat grooming is important for several reasons: it reduces shedding and hairballs, prevents painful matting, allows early detection of skin issues or parasites, keeps your cat's coat healthy and shiny, reduces dander (helpful for allergy sufferers), and maintains proper hygiene. Professional groomers have specialized tools, products, and techniques to safely handle cats, even those with behavioral challenges. Regular grooming also helps cats become more comfortable with handling, which is beneficial for veterinary visits.

How often should my cat be professionally groomed?

The frequency of professional grooming depends on your cat's coat type, length, and lifestyle. Long-haired breeds like Persians typically need grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Medium-haired cats may need grooming every 6-8 weeks, while short-haired cats might only need professional attention every 8-12 weeks or during seasonal shedding periods. Cats with special conditions like obesity or arthritis that prevent self-grooming may need more frequent appointments. Your groomer can recommend an appropriate schedule based on your cat's specific needs.

What's the difference between cat and dog grooming?

Cat grooming differs significantly from dog grooming. Cats have more sensitive skin, requiring gentler handling and cat-specific products. Their grooming sessions are typically shorter to minimize stress. Cats often need specialized restraint techniques and quieter environments. Cat groomers use different tools designed for feline coats and are trained to recognize signs of stress unique to cats. Cat-only grooming facilities eliminate the anxiety many cats experience around dogs, creating a more comfortable experience for your feline friend.
